Hey guys, well today I made a HUGE mistake. I decided to try and see how far I could over clock my Athlon64 3200+. . . Needless to say this was the worst thing I could of ever tried to do. I started to do my over clocking and soon my computer just restarted and on the boot it said system files are corrupted. So I put my BIOS back to the way it was at default and proceded to install windows xp again. After installing my computer will work however every 20-30 seconds it decides to freeze for 10 seconds. Im not sure why but I have a feeling it might of damaged my gfx card, granted I did not over clock that, but its the only thing I can think of because I move the mouse and it doesnt update however after it begins working again the mouse is moved to where it should of been had all my movements happened. Another thought is that my power supply doesnt have enough power, unofrtunatly I have no idea how much power it puts out, cant find the info on the case or anywhere for that matter. Does anyone have any ideas about why it would be doing this? I hope this problem goes away. . . but if not I guess its a good excuse for me to finally upgrade

What was the stock default voltage of the processor set at? And what did you change it to?

Try removing your CMOS battery on your motherboard for 5-10 minutes with your computer off and unplugged.

After 5-10 minutes, pop the battery back in. Then boot up your pc.

I didnt change anything with the voltage so that is still normal, i have this program that says the Vcore is 1.37V and there are 3 other volt numbers that im not sure what they are. I changed the, multiplyer from 10x200 (Default) to 10x230.

Ok, well after doing the CMOS battery everything has been working perfectly well for me, hopfully that was the only problem. Thanks alot for the help.

As he said, he did not up his voltage, so it wouldn't be heat damage.

Gamepro65, now that you reset your CMOS, you will have to reset your time in the BIOS and everything. By accident you may of left one option wrongly set.

I hope this doesn't scare you away from overclocking. You just have to read a bit about it first to understand it. Check out http://hardforum.com/ under the overclocking and read the stickies
