So, my computer has 512mb of RAM... and I want to get some more.
I'm not sure how to go about buying more though, I checked newegg, no luck.
Mr.Blah, I'm sure you could answer where to get it, how to get it, and save me like $100 on it and get me some extras on it, so if you need my system specs or anything, ask ahead :D

EDIT: my model is a dell 8400 dimension, video card radeon X800GT, with 4 slots of ram, 2x 256 DIMM DDR2 ram right now. I'll look at that site yev, thanks

If Newegg isn't getting you any luck, try going to www.dealram.com It will give you a list of all the available /lowest priced/compatible RAM on the internets.
Also, go to www.crucial.com and you can scan your system and it will tell you how much room you have left for RAM and what kind you need.

I've upgraded RAM a few times before and this way was pretty good :)

First off determine the make/manufacturer of your motherboard and that will be all you need, go to www.crucial.com or www.kingston.com and it will tell you what type of memory you need as well as how much your board will support and how it should be installed.

Then, once you know what your board takes pull the cover to see what sort of ram you currently have (2 X 256, 1 X 512, 4 X 128) and determine the best way to expand your ram.

Thanks for the help guys- Just wondering, do I need 2x all RAM right now, or can I take one out and have it still work?

sorry i was not so prompt to respond :D i was doin a little something in preparation for another case mod.

You have a Dimension 8400...that takes PC-4200 aka DDR2 533.

it all boils down toh ow much money you wanna spend. $20? $30? $40? what? thats the big question. But here are some options then.

Corsair 512MB stick $19 with shipping
Corsair 1GB stick $24 with shipping
Corsair 2x 512MB sticks $31 with shipping 2 sticks means dual channel.. kinda, you will get better performance.
Corsair 2x 1GB sticks $43 with shipping

you do not need to take any current RAM you have installed out.... just put two, or one stick in

Thanks, Mr. Blah! My dad found 2x 1gb for $35, so I think I'll get that. Or maybe I'll take out the current sticks I have and get 4gb... I'll have to think about it.
