who has a DURABLE headset?

Post by =TeZ= » Sat Sep 15, 2007 4:16 pm

OK this is ticking me off!

I just broke another frikkin headset, the second one this year. It's an Altec Lansing, cost 40 bucks and now the speaker on one side just popped out. The armature where the speaker housing attaches to the rest of the headset is broken, too. It's all duct-taped together now.

So did the Plantronics headsets I bought my kids - both broke. So did the Labtecs, Logitechs, Sonys, Aiwas, and so on and on and on....I had a big pile of them at one time but I tossed them out.

Can someone recommend a really tough headset that a meathead like myself can use normally without breaking? A bullet-proof carbon-fiber/Titanium/Steel and cowhide would be great. I don't even care what they sound like any more, just so they don't break after a month's normal use.

$49 Plantronics crap from Future Shop.
Now beginning to lose sound in left earphone....

Durable ones don't exist.
Like light bulbs. They can make light bulbs last forever, but then people would stop buying light bulbs....

If I were you, I would just get a high end pair of good branded headphones for your computer and a desk microphone. Then just get warranties on both so whenever they crap out, just replace em. Sennheiser makes GREAT head phones. Depending on your budget, the Sennheiser HD-555's may be out of your range, but they are defiantly worth the price. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD555- ... This is a good one. I'm on my second one because my dog ate the first one.

I just get the $30 logitech "disosable" ones. That way I dont get upset when it bites the dust. Ive been through 3 in the last few years. They sound ok,

I like Ben's idea of good ear phones and a desk mic. The mic is the part that always breaks off on mine. Plus, I admire a good timbre.

I have this really big KOSS headset that seems pretty durable. Sounds great, too. :)

Have been through 5 headsets over the last 3 years, all makes and models. Need to go pick some up as we speak, my current set only one earphone works and I have the mic taped on. :)

I switch off between these, which are super comfortable and unbelievable quality.

Or these, when I have them near by... I only have them because I use them for my in ear stage monitors when I play.

I use a desk mic if needed like Gen.Ben recommended.

I decided on the IceMat Siberia. Steel construction, wide dynamic range and detachable mic:

believe it or not they had some at Target
