4.6gb of stuff

Post by FUSE » Thu Jul 26, 2007 3:46 pm

Okay so I have about 4.6GB of photos on my computer that I want to send to a friend. I used winzip to compress the files but of course it still turns out to be a zip file the size of 4.6GB. How in the heck is it possible for me to send all these photos to my friend EASILY without having to wait days for all these files to upload? Anyone know!?

Burn it to a dvd-data disc and mail it to him/her

No way around it, moving 4.6gb of info over any network is gonna take for ever

Make a remote connection to their PC and then drop the files on it......But that would take days, could be interrupted and would in general be a real PITA.

Burn a DVD, get a external drive, or um, just tell em to get their own pr0n ;-P

You could split the files into 500mb RAR files with winrar, Then upload them to www.megaupload.com in a few pieces That's probably going to be the fastest way you can get them to the person you want to send it to.

Or... If you dont mind cutting the resolution of the photos down a bit, you could downloading a batch image resizer such as this one http://www.multipleimageresizer.net/download.aspx

You could just resize the pictures and then zip em, that will shave the majority of the size off.

Either that, or dump em onto a DVD and mail it to the person.

It cost me 52 cents to send a DVD to a person in the same country as me.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned setting up a ftp. You'd have to get one of the other guys to explain it, but a friend and I used to trade files using cute ftp (which is freeware, I think).

And yeah, tell your buddy to get his own pr0n. You don't have to look very far to find it.

EDIT: Just checked it out...cute ftp has a free trial version, but it's not real expensive if you want to buy it.

I wouldn't recommend FTP, unless the host has an extremely good internet connection up rate of about 5mbps+

On a normal DSL/Cable connection you will only get a download rate of 30kb/s - 50kb/s I still think mega upload would be the best choice.

you could always print them on to paper, and put them in to an album, then visit them with it show them off just like in the olden days.

You could put it on a flash drive, then invent a teleportation device. First you'll need to build one at your house and then one at the destination, then just teleport the flash drive. Voilà!
