Last night I tried to install HL2 ep1 on my Dell xps m150 with go6800gt ultra and it got so pissed at me. It doesn't mind source or HL2. I got a blue screen saying windows is shutting down to avoid damaging the computer.
Something about updating display adapter and gave an adress etc. Then it wouldn't shut off or anything. I had to wait for the battery to die overnight while i laid in bed and watched the blue screen reflecting on the ceiling.
I turned it on this morning and it worked fine. Any sugestions?
It is not brand new. I bought it from my roomy who only used it about a dozen times and is less than a year old. Pretty wacky, huh?

When you got the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) if should have given you a stop error number (which usually looks something like this "0x0000000A"). If without that number it's hard to say exactly what issue it is having with your video drivers.
I guess first thing is you would want to check with Nvidia (or maybe even Microsoft) for an updated video driver.

You could of easily held the power button for 10 seconds... that forces it to turn off.
Or just yanked the battery out.
Yeah... I would reccomend updating all possible drivers and also running some anti virus/spyware programs.
