Well my xfx 5850 started making funny noises a few weeks ago, so I inquired with xfx about it. They told me to send it in for service. Luckily I was going out of town for 10 days so I wouldn't miss not having a computer. Well tomorrow I should be receiving a new xfx black 6870 as a replacement. Pretty stoked on that. Hope the card is equivalent if not better than my 5850 black. Just wanted to put it out there that xfx is a good company.

is this an ATI video card you're buying from Xfx?
I have never bought from them before but I have heard good things, glad you got a new one, hopefully free of charge?

I recently got a 6870 for the computer i built for my brother, it is quite amazing and way better than the 4850 I have in my computer. I'd assume it is going to be at least a little better than the 5850 you've got already

Tom's rates the 6870 and 5850 as being performance equivalents, so you should be good there
I know XFX is well regarded, due to being one of the only companies still offering lifetime warranties on their high powered video cards.

Now that xfx makes ATi cards also, there is no reason to buy anything but xfx. Great company. Great warranty. Great service.

6870's pretty close to the 5850 in terms of performance, and it produces less heat/noise than the 5850.

I bought my first XFX last December when the 6000 series came out for a new build. I had heard good things about their service, but always nice for more confirmation from Villuns.

I always try to go with companies that have good customer service reputations as well. I've never had any problems with a GPU to date(knock on wood) but I mostly attribute that to the fact that a company with a good customer service/warranty replacement service should have a vested interest in having high quality manufacturing and quality assurance testing held as high priorities.
The last four to five years of cards I've used has included: XFX Geforce 7600 GT, EVGA Geforce 9800 GT, XFX Geforce 260 core 216, and my current XFX Radeon 5850. I've been very happy with the cost to performance ratio and lower heat output of the ATI cards compared to Nvidia so as long as EVGA doesn't start producing AMD based cards I'll probably stick with XFX for my next card purchase as well. I'm currently trying to talk myself into upgrading to a 6970 so that I'm ready to fully bask in the graphical gloriousness of Battlefield 3.
