I searched around, read the Steam tech help, and it seems like all I do is install Steam on the new hard drive and then move the steamapps folder.
But I feel like I'm missing something...is it really that easy? Are there registry things I need to take care of, profile things to move or anything else I need to be aware of?

It's really that easy. I have done this countless times.

I only ran into a problem when trying to move from XP to Win7 64bit, but then I was expecting a problem but tried it anyhow

Re: Moving Steam to new hard drive
Interesting fact - I was actually simultaneously running the same Steam installation when I was using Windows Vista along with the Windows 7 Beta. Symlinking is a godsend for stuff like that.
