Why oh Why does everything go wrong for me

Trying to get Red Alert 3 to run for about 3 hours now, to no avail.

Apparently its because my computer cant read the codecs for the sounds.

And guess what? As a bonus, I have no sound!

Me and Torven were trying to figure out why Red Alert 3 can't get past the splash screen.

So far, nothing.

A potential fix is to install new sound card drivers, but when i try to install them, i get a "Windows cannot verify this publisher" Then I click install anyway, but then Windows holds for a sec, and it comes back up again. I thought it may be trying to install multiple .dll's so i kept trying it. Still nothing.

Things I have tried:
Restarting (Several times)
putting Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON in command prompt with admin
Turning firewall off
Turning Real-Time Protection off
a couple other "solutions"

All to no avail

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know what the codecs in question are? Theoretically, there should be an error log somewhere, or some sort of documentation, that would indicate what the codec is. My solution would be to locate that, then go download the codec.

I hate audio issues.

First I need to get my sound card drivers installed.

As said above the driver setup is stuck in a loop of "Windows cannot verify the publisher of this software" Then i click intall anyway and it hangs for a sec, then it asks me again.

I also downloaded K-Lite Codecs, but i dont know what to do with it. Apparently its supposed to fix the prob.

EDIT: Looks like my sound is working, but I need the AC97 driver to work so I can try to get RA3 to run.

Ok so I just got the AC'97 codec installed...

Nothing. Zilch. Nada.
I don't think its a sound or video problem, and many other threads say this fixed a problem when you got past the splash screen, but got a blank screen after that.

So far I have found no solutions to the problem of it not getting past the EA splash screen.

I think its come to me that getting 7 out is the only option.

One problem though, I cant find my Vista disk.

I do have an XP SP2 disk though.

Which one would you use?

I have an onboard sound card (Realtek HD Audio)

you were running 7 its got problems with games

and Vista is just Junk

definitely go with XP or XP pro

XP over Vista or Beta 7 by a mile, right now. Didn't realize you were running that
