it is all a matter of how close you are to a major hub. Similar to your first order there was a time when I came home for lunch, ordered a part, and then the next day when I got home from work it was waiting for me.

Well, UPS Corporate HQ is in town, so that's a good sign.

Curses! Package got stuck on Columbia, SC last night and hasn't moved.

My mic shipped from PA and arrived this afternoon. So, at least I can finally use voice chat this weekend. . .

Wow, I ordered my harddrive the morning after you ordered your ram, and it's waiting for me at home.

Does New Egg ship for Saturday delivery if you select next day?

Typically, A next-day-air sent on Friday delivers on Monday. You can pay extra for Next-day-Saturday service. (I used to run a shipping dept.) That's how it used to be.

Gotta love Amazon's 2-day shipping sometimes.

Even if I'd selected Saturday, I ship to my office which I am not going to drive to tomorrow, but Saturday delivery for UPS is air-only and costs a bundle extra.

I just got unlucky, the shipment headed to Atlanta tonight after sitting in SC for 30 hours. If it had caught last nights shipment to Atlanta I would have gotten it today. :(

Well, shame on UPS, my stuff finally arrived today. Who knows when I'll get around to doing the upgrade as we're out of town this wekeend and then Im traveling starting next week. . . :(

So, I bought an OEM Win 7 64-bit as I'm wiping and starting from a fresh HDD, but the package is loaded with all these scare quotes about how you're supposed to go about installing this thing using the Windows OPK - am I going to have to jump through hoops to install this? I don't mind doing so if I must, but I want to know what I'm getting into before I crack the seal on the DVDs.

Back on the topic [of finding the right DDR2], I have a question of my own.

When comparing two sets of RAM, which should be more important? Lower CAS latency, or higher PC2 speed? I've been considering bundling up an upgrade to Win7 with a memory upgrade from 2 GB to 6 GB, and I don't know which sticks of RAM I ought to get.
Yay, target! Here to pad your stats!

Generally the lower the CAS speed the better, however since CAS speed is based on cycles, you can cycle through faster if you have a higher PC2 speed. Give this a read, note the table at the bottom.

Sorry to hear it took so long.

As far as OEM Win 7 64, it is easy as pie. You won't notice any difference between it and the standard version. The whole ridiculousness about funky licences and such is their way of saying "We're not responsible for providing tech support with this installation of Windows." That's the only difference between the OEM and the retail software.

Boot from disk, punch in the provided license code, pick your options, et voila. I actually did an install of Win 7 64 OEM on Monday, while simultaneously tracking the ARG, playing DA:O, and making dinner. It's not at all challenging :-P

Excellent. I still dislike the scare things I've been reading about it being allowed only one installation, as I am sude I will change some hardware at some point, but I don't think it will be as bad as I fear.

One installation at a time is what's allowed, but that's the same for any licensed OS. You can change hardware as much as you like, or delete an installation and put it elsewhere. Indeed, I've kept a single HDD and OEM OS through the process of systematically replacing nearly every other major component in the computer - Mobo, RAM, PSU, GPU, it doesn't even blink. There is truly no difference in the actual software itself. The only thing retail has different is telephone tech-support, and a fancy box.

probably posting this WAYYYY to late..... but http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/
this scanner sees how many slots your specific PC has, how much ram it can take, and what type of ram you need. it also gives you all the details so you can look for your own
