IIRC 8800s are the oldest that will do physx.

By the logic, I didn't know you could do this either! I'm still running a 8800GT I've been looking to get a new video card soon (and by "soon" I mean "between now and mid-January") and I was really eyeing up the Radeon 6870s... with this in mind perhaps a GTX 460 is in order... Thoughts?

You need a motherboard with 2 PCIe x16 slots if you use a secondary for PhysX, while a GTX 460 + 8800GT combo would be pretty sweet, the 6870 performs similar to a 5870 (with better tesselation) which performed similar to a GTX 470 so the 6870 would be more powerful. Up to you I suppose, it's like a 10-15% performance difference, do you really use games with PhysX that much?Buzzy Beetle wrote:By the logic, I didn't know you could do this either! Yeah Araris makes a solid point here. If you aren't going to be playing many games with the use of PhysX, its not worth the effort to go forth and have it completed.Araris wrote:You need a motherboard with 2 PCIe x16 slots if you use a secondary for PhysX, while a GTX 460 + 8800GT combo would be pretty sweet, the 6870 performs similar to a 5870 (with better tesselation) which performed similar to a GTX 470 so the 6870 would be more powerful. I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.
