HLSW

Post by Dog » Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:49 pm

For those of you that have never heard of it, there is a program called Half Life Server Watch (HLSW) which admins often use to admin the game servers. Not much use for the ordinary user unless they have an RCON password.

However, one useful feature is the Traceroute command which can help you figure out where your ping is screwing up.

This is HLSW with the server IPs added:

This is Trace Route.....press Ctrl-T

[fullalbumimg]222[/fullalbumimg]

Notice the Difference column. This will help you find where your ping is messing up and whether it's your ISP (in my case Telus Canada) or the Game Server company or servers in between.

To get it, go to:

You can also do the same thing from a command line using the "tracert" command.

Yup, you can, but this one continually updates whereas tracert does it the once...

HLSW is awesome :icon_pray:

Sure has come a long way since pre-Steam days (that was the last time I used it)
