I still think you should look into the whole not multitasking option.

So the steam server browser does it too. If I get a refresh, click a server but can't join cause its full again. Then try to do another quick refresh it'll freeze up. Then I have to close steam completely down and such to get it to work again.

Yeah, avoid the server browser. It causes problems for a lot of people...
