Yikes! NTLDR is missing. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart

Post by Gen.Ben » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:32 pm

Okay guys. I am having a big problem, I cant even boot up into windows.

I was running out of hard drive space. I have a 160GB (primary) and a 250GB (secondary)

I wanted to ghost the 160 to the 250.

Okay,

With norton ghost I sucessfully cloned the 160GB hard drive to the 250GB.

I rebooted.

After the first load up screen, my computer shows information about my drives and whatnot. After that information is a message.

NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart

So now I am sitting here, typing on my uber crap computer.

Please help FAST!!!! I need this to be fixed as soon as possible!

PLEASE HELP ME VILLUNS!

I cant even get into windows.

Yeah.. What he said.

Otherwise, Re-partition the partition, telling it that it's the boot sector; re-format it,
when finished, restore the ghost image. That's why I don't care for Ghost.

Acronis True Image much better program. :)

AH!!!!!

I did a repair install of windows. After it finished my system rebooted, When i saw the Windows XP loading screen I was like hooray!

Then....

My computer restarted while windows was loading, then it tried to load windows up again, after that I got this lovely screen:

[img=http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/6868 ... ev3.th.jpg]

I tried booting normally, and in safe mode.

Still nothing.

I feel really mad right now as all i wanted to do was move windows and my files to another bigger hard drive.

I really do not want to reinstall windows and start all over again, and re install my program collection.

Please advise me what to do..

Personally, I would have left Windows and associated files on the 160Gb drive as is.

I would have moved all the work files, documents, music etc onto the 250Gb drive.

Steam could also easily be moved over onto to the 250Gb drive.....

You CAN run STEAM through WINE, but I don't know how smooth it will run. It sometimes takes a good amount of configuration to get it working.

Windows is fine (for most.)

Plus like it's been said in the pas..
It is not suggested to fully and/or immediately switch over the Linux. I'd say the differences out-weigh the similarities between the 2 OS'es.

Get a separate partition and dual-boot Win/Linux and get used to it first.
**Hint** Linux works best when you are able to work in the command line, rather than the GUI.

On my older PC I was running SuSE 10.1

It was fine for what I needed it for...

And I was just using it until i could find a copy of Windows. But windows can game without hassle.... I don't program anything... So I really have no need for linux. I guess I will stick to the good ol' M$
