Speex codec was the only one with bearable sound quality back when I was using TS. I wonder if that'll still be true when their new version comes out.

I'll vote for Mumber even though I've never used it. Team Speak's quality makes my ears bleed. I'd prefer Vent, but since it's not being considered...

maybe we should postpone this until we are able to get our hands on Teamspeak 3. Though I must admit I have never heard of mumble before as I was totally happy with Teamspeak 2.

You have to be in game to use it for one thing. You also can't talk to people on other servers or games.

Apparently I have no idea how all this will work. . . will we have one giant chat room any of us can connect to at any time? Or will there be rooms for each server? Do you have to be in the server for it to work (I assume not?).

I know this is where the world is going, but the idea of people being able to chat with living teammates while dead will always bother me. . .

The other team will hear.
The idea is that regular chat will be team based, while the Voice server will be all talk.

There will be one 'room' for each server.

It is at least technically possible to implement this into admin sentinel. Though I would have to push the development further and we might need to consider to choose a new plug in name for it then.

Also this solution would only work for source games.

Does it mean that we're getting rid of the vent server, by the way? If we do can there be a spare room for other-game voice chat?

I have an odd question. Will either make it possible to have a graphic showing how many (or which) people are in each room? I'm thinking of something like the server listing on the front page. Sometimes it might be nice just to drop in and actually say hello.

Yeah, I've seen a few sites that have all the TS channels listed with who is in them.
