[quote="So Uncivilized";p="110224"]IMHO, T, not so much.

I am a 'lump it' kind of guy, though, and don't mind the learning curve. Since I stink at most games on the best of days, I can have fun while going the wrong way, pulling a weapon when I meant to duck, &c.

I played the single player for about 20 minutes and haven't touched it since.

I find going into the options and looking at the keyboard commands to be sufficient to learn how to play.

Unciv makes a good point. You can get the SP if you like, but there is also a handful of us who would be more than willing to join the server with you and show you the ropes. Masa can even up witness limit to make things easier for you starting out!

Even the multiplayer should come with a tutorial that will help you get the basic concept of the game (Witnesses, etc).

And yes, with a server I can change various factors to help with the learning curve.

There's a good reason for that. :) I've set the server so that if a player makes two innocent kills (AKA killing someone that isn't your quarry or your hunter), you get a sixty minute vacation from the server. This is because a few of the public servers had people who were just killing people for no reason, and that slows everyone down.

Yeah, carpe told me about it after it happened... And then I remembered reading it somewhere, maybe in a thread here :P Anyway, now I know, and knowing is half the battle...

Quick note: There are two decent custom maps as well that I'm looking to throw up on the server. One's in a hotel (And comes with light-switches in most rooms, which should make it interesting), and another in the Hindenburg. Sadly though, they need to be downloaded ahead of time, as I can't find a way to make it download off-server.

What are the steps to download the maps?

When I go to the ship folders, the map folder is split into two other sub folders?

The corresponding subfolders need to be merged in with the "the ship/ship" subfolders. Both archives should have a readme file as well with more detailed instructions.

I remember trying this game a while back when they had the free weekend. I was confused to say the least.

It's worth trying out Chief. I gave out my pass already but I bet someone else can give you theirs.

I installed those two maps and both are working for me.

I'm still on the fence about buying it. I haven't had anything strong enough to push me over. Does anyone have a pass they could give me so I can try it out?
