Free Ship, More Content?

Tis' the season for Christmas miracles! Let's start from the beginning, even though I saw it the other way around.

So, after Bloody Good Time was released, one of the employees was posting about how Ubisoft essentially gave them the runaround and how they were, for all intensive purposes, pretty much done as a company. Very sad news indeed.

Well, apparently in mid-November, a publisher called "Blazing Griffin" purchased the game from Outerlight. Admittedly, if I'd seen the news then, I would have simply raised an eyebrow, slightly raised my hopes, but ultimately have shrugged it off to them taking some of the IP or concepts for something of their own.

Flash forward today, where after cruising around on the internet, I find a link to the Ship's Steam group, which has a post from them stating that all current owners of The Ship are receiving two giftable copies of the game, and any person who activates a free copy with get a free copy themselves to play. Well, viral marketing at it's best here.

So, I'm a little more confident they are trying to do some revitalization of the game, and I'm hoping it's good and takes off with everyone. That said, I'll have two free games to give away of it, as will any other villians with it, so I encourage people to get the game and give it a shot, because it is a lot of fun.

(And sadly, the Ship server we had here literally got terminated at the start of the week. Bah!)

I would like to try the ship, but I am not confident that I would enjoy it and/or play it as much as the next guy/gal.

So maybe at the end of everyone posting here in a week or two, if someone still has an extra free copy, kick one my way?

I will have 2 copies when this happens as well, which id be happy to part with. Would love to play some ship with a full server again like old times.

I might take on of these. A free game is a free game after all.

Interesting, quite a different take on viral marketing. They're essentially making it F2P as long as you know someone with the game. Which means people will invite their friends to play, who will invite their friends, and so on. This could go a long way to revitalize the game.

That said, I'd be more than happy to toss out some free copies when they land in my account. Been far too long since I've had some shenanigans on the high seas.

I plead ignorance. Can someone describe the game? Never played it (obviously)

An eccentric billionaire, Mr. X, lures people onto luxury cruise ships under false pretenses and only when they're out to sea and completely out of touch with the world that he announces the entire thing was a setup, the passengers are forced to hunt one another for his amusement, the last of which winning a large cash prize (not to mention living).

Every "round" you are assigned the name of another passenger as your quarry. You don't know what they look like (appearances are random), you get their name and last known location which updates at regular intervals. The point of the game is to track down and murder your quarry with the weapons valued the most by Mr. X (which are ever changing), while at the same time evading your own hunter (you get no information about your hunter, so everyone is suspect). The person who hits the winning amount of money first is the winner.

It's a fun concept and can make for a very satisfying game.

I've been somewhat interested in this game as well, it is too bad we just lost the server for it though.

'Intensive purposes' is my favorite malapropism. I use it all the time.

I should get two copies as well, a lot of us have the game so we should be able to coodinate and get most everyone a gift copy, especially if those getting one also get another one to give.
