So what we have here is a lame server, so we are here to bring it back to life. :) Thanks to Stutter, we now have a forum just for that purpose.

I asked Silver to post a current voting list so we have a starting place. The big thing we should do now is go over the list and add and remove some maps as needed. There are some new maps to check out as well.

Right away, we should remove all versions of Yukon from the server since it is stalk. It also appears that Camping Trip needs to go from the main rotation. I also would like to see the latest version of Avantiville taken out as well due to the glitch (maybe revert to the previous for now).

Other changes we talked about are to reduce spawn times (I suggested 15s max to start with), and raising the alltalk threshold (I suggested 12 players).

Stevo, can you tell us how the spawn time settings work? What options do we have?

Also I like the alltalk idea being increased.

An idea that came to mind, and it may have came from someones posts in the admin forums is that we get a good rotation of say 6 solid maps, have another 6-10 available for voting for a total of say 16.

Then, every two weeks have a new custom map evaluation night where people are welcome to come try out the latest batches of new maps. We would post the maps ahead of time as well as locations to download, and if we could get them on fast download that would be great too :)

Then, after we play each map for 1/2 hour or more (how long do we need to figure out the map and give it a fair eval) we would have people provide feedback in the forums on said new maps and integrate them into the rotation.

Its a wee bit of work but I think it would make the community feel its involved and everyone would have a chance to voice their opinions.

But seriously, I agree with all of the points brought up so far. Spawn times can be adjusted on a map-by-map basis, correct? I think a start of a 15 sec max time is a good general rule .

As well, I'd be willing to turn Circus nights into customs night. I think as long as we have one or two fun maps near the end/start of the night, people will still come. :)

Yeah, that sounds like a good thing for circus night. I really think we should avoid overthinking the map choosing process. Just throw maps in the voting and see what sticks. Of course, we'll have a thread open for feedback and we have map ratings to go by.

As far as spawn times, I'm not sure exactly how that works. There are a few different plugins that work differently.

You can set each team's spawn time.

Well, when you set mp_respawnwavetime, does that adjust the map-specific spawns if there are any, or does it override anything set?

That Cvar just sets the time between spawn waves. The actual spawn times are controlled by a few other factors as well, so we just use the plugin to modify them.

I'd like to see ctf_casbah3 or ctf_mach4 just simply for the sake of having a ctf map (I think casbah3 is a better choice than mach4 personally). I'd rather have that than pl_waste personally.

Mach4 is pretty small and seems to always come down to a dead ringer spy slowly moving the intel out since the spy update. I don't really hear much positive or negative while playing Casbah and the new version isn't rated, so I guess we should try that out. It just seems like CTF isn't well liked in general.

Alright, I sent the list to Silver along with these settings:

maprate_autorate_time 600 // Shows the map rating menu automatically after 10 minutes
maprate_autorate_delay 1 // Shows the rate menu only after the player dies
