Maps

Post by SilverOne » Tue Jan 27, 2009 4:37 pm

I have been trying to keep an eye on the maps and which tend to empty the server, but need some help. Within a couple days I removed tournament and tombs. Those were the 2 arena type ones.

How about the ones currently running?

aoc_theshore
aoc_darkforest
aoc_stoneshill
aoc_overlook
aoc_siege
aoc_valley
aoc_helms_deep
aoc_battleground

Any of those really bad?

Anyone know of good customs yet?

Please share your thoughts and thank you.

I liked the deathmatch maps best. :?

The others are fun too. Just a little slow on the action for me.

Some of the objective-based maps are very difficult to figure out what you're supposed to be doing.

The devs need to address that. That just encourages newbie-hating.

The ctf maps seem to be server killers. The complaining begins immediately when these maps load.

aoc_firecrag
aoc_...the 2fort map :?

I nominate these two for the round file. All in favor?

firecrags way to big to be any good. If they would of cut the middle by 1/2 or 3/4, it'd be fine.

Monestery needs to go. Giant map, with goofy objectives, and really easy to get lost.
We played it the other day and the whole blue team had no idea what the hell to do or go. At the end the entire blue team quit except 2 or 3 ppl.

I disagree. Everyone will learn the map eventually. I remember playing helms deep when no one had a clue.

Monastery is great map. Just wait and see.

The 2fort map is aoc_overlook.

I've removed them but they should still be available should an admin or supporter want them.

if we were to get rid of maps with goofy objectives i would say get rid of that mountain assault one...where you destroy the dragon statue "Push your battering ram to <here>" "OBJECTIVE COMPLETED!" "Push your battering ram to <HERE>" "OBJECTIVE COMPLETED!" "Push it here now!" "OBJECTIVE COMPLETED" but it still is a good map...keep it!

monastery is a good map...once people figure it out...and if you think that map is big...you haven't done Westerlyn!!
