Due to lack of activity, TV4 has been changed from the TF2 2Fort server.

As you know, empty servers make us sad, so we decided to switch TV4 over to a new mod.

The new mod is Age of Chivalry.
It can be downloaded for free from: steam://install/17510

I played it a while back. It's okay, but...PVK2 > AoC. Why?

PVK2

Pirates
Specials
Dragons

AoC

No Pirates
No Specials
No Dragons

Combat in AoC is very basic, which is to say you attack and block the same. PVK2 has a very dynamic combat system which allows different angles of attacking and blocking, and strength of attack. AoC does have decapitations, but the novelty wears off quickly. PVK2 also has better graphics.

Of course, you know me. If we have a server for it, I'll play it. :)

The maps I played last night were pretty neat.
The objectives were cool.

Such as the Helm's Deep map. You had to put ladders up or move siege engines, then capture objective points, push battering rams, blow up culverts, avoid getting shot, etc.

PVKii seems like deathmatch melee with a couple of minor objectives, with the emphasis on combat, whereas AoC has neat objectives - great for useless cretins like me who can't melee for poo...

Played some with Noodge, Max, and Kodo this morning. It was fun! :D

The slow pace of the game takes some getting used to.

As I said, I'm useless at melee, that's why MeleeMania, PVKii and anything with bows/arrows/swords/knives isn't good.

Last night I had my rear end handed to me on a plate by Tarrock and Lil Silver....
I got to enjoy the Warhammer though!

The game doesn't really have a grand learning curve like most games, can prob get really good in maybe 20 hours of playing. You start learning a few tricksafter you've played some time.
Feels great to get to the point where you can win 4v1.

Also with the games hit+dmg system, it makes the game winnable for noobs.

I've found it to be enjoyable enough notwithstanding the few problems I've encountered with the game's mechanics (hit detection). Like Dog, I also enjoy the large maps like Helms Deep, with all their siege goodies. Perhaps I just had bad luck but I've had a heck of a hard time finding an AoC server with decent ping and courteous players (let alone more than two players). Hopefully, this mod will become popular enough at The Ville to fill the server for a nice little siege! I'm looking forward to the next update.

In my opinion, Pirates, Vikings and Knights II is the superior mod. It has much better game mechanics, graphics, and the voice menu is hilarious! It's not melee-only, as it has been inaccurately referred to here. There's an interesting array of weapons (close combat, projectile, explosive, and even animal :o ). There are custom maps that incorporate many of the elements of siege warfare that are in AoC (siege engines, ballistas, explosives, catapults, castle defenses, etc.). And, it has Pirates, Vikings and Knights...all in the same game! I eagerly await the next PVKII update, sometime early this year, that will introduce the game through Steam. It's going to be BIG!

I like both games, just PVKII more.
It has booty, grog, dragons, attack parrots, The Holy Grail, Valhalla, and hit detection. :yaaar:

It's funny. I normally favor objectives over deathmatch in any game; however, I had more fun on the AoC dm maps than obj.

When we were trying to get the server cranked up on Saturday morning, some kid (who apparently knows everything lol) claimed the PVK team stole the hit detection code from AoC.
