Security issue with new Steam update

So, besides the fact that the new interface is pretty much a steaming ugly pile of keech, it has a huge exploit currently with the voice chat feature. Apparently, if a person is kicked from a voice chat, they lose the ability to hear others (as one would expect), but their own mic remains hot and transmitting to all remaining members of the voice chat.

Here's a Reddit thread on the subject.

If that got left in, goodness knows what other untested errors have been introduced, so please be wary with the latest patch until things get fixed up.

Also, be careful if you set up or own a Steam Group with multiple admins - owners can now be banned from their own groups.

If you are as displeased with the changes as I presently am, it appears you can override them and retain something far more like the old version by adding the flag -nofriendsui to the end of your Steam launch target (Right click the Steam icon, select properties, and under target modify it so it looks similar to: "S:\Steam\Steam.exe -nofriendsui" using whatever directory and folder names are appropriate for your system.
