Check your caulk line
So I had a little issue with some mold, tracked it down and found this. Behind the shower board and waterproof cover.
Filled insurance, and low and behold it's not covered.
Moral of the story... check the caulk line around your tubs, showers, and sinks.

go open concept....in other words put the shower out side, use a garden hose and save the cost of a reno.
Might be breezy in the winter but if the pipes dont freeze then you wont either.

I would try and read any of your insurance papers that you have. In my experience they like to just say no until proven wrong.

I'll post afters when it's completed.Inner wrote:Great time for a complete remodel with upgrades!
Already did that, went to my agent and had her read everything to me. It was a preventable loss due to normal/routine maintenance. In other words they said the caulk around tub and walls should have been redone every 5-6 years. And I've had the house for 10.BigBiker05 wrote:I would try and read any of your insurance papers that you have. In my experience they like to just say no until proven wrong.

Re: Check your caulk line
Hmmm....
Having just bought a house, I'm scared that my boyfriend and I made the mistake of not getting a mold test for one of our contingencies. But, sellers like the idea of less contingencies so we left that one out (we really wanted this place..)....
Should I go check my caulk lines now?.... Im scared of ripping out the bathroom. though we do have 2 bathrooms... so we could do without one for now if mold is an issue...

If you have a 1 piece shower then it shouldn't be an issue. But if you have a tub and shower walls/board. Check the tub for obvious signs of degradation. EG: peeling, loose, cracked, mold.Fraulein Arztin wrote:Hmmm....
