Fantasy Baseball 2015
Hello, all! Fantasy Football season is just recently over, and Fantasy Soccer is still underway, but now another season is upon us...
Fantasy Baseball
That's right, it's baseball time! I'm not aware that we've done a Baseball league before, and quite frankly, I haven't done one before either! As part of my Beat the Boss Challenge (and just for kicks) I wanted to get one of these going. It's a bit different than fantasy football - you still draft your team and adjust your starters as you see fit, but they play a heck of a lot more games, and scoring is a lot less random.
Scoring
Rather than scoring head-to-head matches each time, teams are ranked in what's called "Rotisserie" format (or "Roto" to those in the know). This is the traditional means of scoring, and has been used for decades. Each teams adds up their combined players' stats in ten vital areas (5 hitting, 5 pitching), and these totals are compared to other teams to establish current ranking. Your ranking changes dynamically throughout the season, based on your running cumulative total in those ten stats, with final position based on your season totals. For example, if we have 12 teams, the cumulatively top team in each stat will get 12 points, the second team in each stat will get 11 points, etc on down to 1 point for the team doing worst in that stat. The team's total across all ten stats is the score used for overall ranking - a maximum of 120 points and a minimum of 12 points (again, varying throughout the season based on cumulative ranking).
Everything is on default settings
Join up!
The nature of ESPN Fantasy Baseball is that I can't just slap a password on the league and give a link, I have to actually send an invite to those who'd like to join. Post here that you're interested, and/or send me a PM with your email address, and I'll get an invite sent!
I currently made it 12 slots (since that's how many people are in the current Soccer league), but will be happy to expand it if there is more interest. We can have as many as 20 teams, and there are plenty of players to go around.
Though this link won't let you join automatically, it will get you to the league page: Ville Baseball 2015

We're up to 8 teams now - enough for a good solid league. Still room for more if people want in!

Re: Fantasy Baseball 2015
I have a bit of a problem with being there for the draft. Good chance I will be on an airplane to visit my dad that Friday. I noticed one setting would allow me to add someone as a fellow team owner. One option might be for me to add someone here as my owner to draft for me. I don't know how others would feel about that. I don't know much about scoring and drafting and have a fairly (stupid/basic) plan for my approach
Edit: never mind, just saw that we can set something up so the computer will draft for me. I'll take a look and figure that out.

Either would be acceptable, YNWA! We've had second-owners for exactly this reason before, and it worked out just fine, or you can do the computer route if you prefer. Just let me know if you need a hand, and we'll get it set up!

Leave it to me to have a severe conflict arise on the night of the draft for the league I'm commissioning - Boss Beaters, your jobs just got a bit easier - I'll have to have the computer draft for me! /rage
