Wow that is one sweet catface in that tree! How much further in did it go?!

The growth area was cream colored, the core was black. That old oak may have another year or 2 before she falls.

yeah that catface was created by a fire scar...a very old one by the looks of it. If there is any rot it is secondary due to the injury.

If you ever get a chance to do it from a helo. Go for it fastest 100foot drop i ever made.

I'm going to be spending a weekend on base with some friends of mine in about a month. We're primarily going for skydiving and glider flights, but I'll ask if we have anyone for some helo shenanigans.
