Re: Food!!
I'm going to make blueberry pancakes in the morning.
(edit, I decided on waffles instead with blueberry-maple syrup)

Re: Food!!
I'm cooking steak for 10 people tomorrow. As I have perfected my spice blend(that I only rub on before hand) and the way I like to cook it(set oven to broil, 5 minutes one side, 3-5 minutes second time, thickness depending).

Re: Food!!
Instructions for a great steak spice blend:
Put the following in a small bowl:
Add 1 teaspn Worcestershire Sauce. Shake Vigorously or mix and mash until it is evenly distributed. When you smell it, it will have a strong vinegar smell. This is the Worcestershire Sauce. Let dry for 4 hours, or until you can no longer smell vinegar. For larger batches, spread on cookie sheet and dry longer or put in the oven at 170F for 30 minutes.
To prepare steak, there is no special prep work. This a dry rub. Just rub on both sides.
For best results in cooking, set oven to broil. Place cookie sheet with aluminum foil on it underneath the top shelf in the over. Using either the rack in the oven or a different metal cooking rack type thing, placed on the top level in the oven, cook for 4-7 minutes on one side and 3-6 on the other. It depends on the thickness of the steak. All steaks should be cooked medium-rare.
It may be good, but I still think it's a work in progress actually. Going to try adding some brown sugar to the next one and see how it changes things.
Put the following in a small bowl:
- 1 tablespn Garlic Powder
- 1 tablespn Sea Salt, Fine
- 1 tablespn Dried, minced onions
- 2 teaspn Garlic Salt
- 1 teaspn onion power
- 1 teaspn black pepper
- 1/4 teaspn Paprika

Re: Food!!
Use light brown sugar. To me it's not as strong as the Dark Brown and it has a better flavor.MrBlah wrote:Instructions for a great steak spice blend:

Also have you tried using powdered Worcestershire http://www.spicebarn.com/worcestershire_powder.htm

Re: Food!!
I would have used the powder, but I don't have any, so I haven't tried it. I did look in stores, but I guess it's hard to find. It will go in eventually.
