Yep they misspelled it. It should have been "base".

It's a good bet that hip hop/rap is outside my genre, but there are some songs I do like; however, I don't think posting them here would be exactly appropriate since all of them contain lots of profanity.

I don't avoid any genres. But I've still found songs I really like from genres I haven't explored very much yet, either because they're unusual/rare to find recordings of, or I haven't had time.

examples:

Soca (Caribbean genre i haven't explored enough)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXB5BWG3JxM

Girl Group (i'm not very into this genre but this song goes above and beyond)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er8PN385PEA

Gospel from Ghana (it sounds very different from usual Gospel)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ru0HwskZiM

Vaporwave (i'm well-acquainted with the genre, but this is the only release i love)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoQb7MNWPRc

Balkan Brass Band (even though they're Japanese)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk01qCEcLbw

Southern Soul (haven't found a soul song that i like nearly as much as this one, well maybe one but whatever)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYzFdU_gC9c

Southeast Asian Classical Music (need to get more into this, i'm amazed at how some sounds like American Primitivism)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1Uei1TlJoE

Qaraami (Somalian genre, hard for me to find recordings)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yLrwMULBb8

Tassu (Senegalese rhythmic poetry genre, hard for me to find recordings)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrJUyH1qATA

Hawaiian musical saw from the 20s
Sam Moore (not on youtube)

Caribbean Folk Disco fusion????
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv_VvNd39uM

African Vocal Jazz (?) (i think this is Mbube but there are some background instruments so idk. i really really really love this song though)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOcxHQmd3TY

there are probably much more but this post is getting long

Sometimes that profanity ain't such a bad thing.

case and point: the Notorious B.I.G.'s epic that is "Ready to Die"

tons of profanity but still great storytelling https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt4xBTqx8g8

I've been listening to a lot of NPR Tiny Desk Concerts lately. I came across this performance by a band called Moon Hooch. They are a a trio of musicians who got their start busking in NYC. Their music can be best described as a hash between Jazz, EDM, and Rock--it's pretty funky and totally awesome.

I used to think I could not stand rap music of just about any kind.

Then I played Madworld and listened to it's amazing soundtrack

Note: these songs contain some swearing and depictions of violence.

Tuneyards opened for Arcade Fire when I saw them in KC, they sounded just as good as the recordings.
