Your Best Friend In a Fire Fight
I want you all to think back. Way back. Possibly even back to Wolfenstein 3d. Think of every first person shooter you have ever played. Now choose carefully because I am asking you to pick the best weapon. Your absolute favorite weapon. The weapon you choose when the final boss is coming and the chips are down. Who is your best friend in a firefight?
For me it is the M14 (no scope, with suppressor) from Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter2 . A suppressed hard hitting semi automatic without a scope in my book that is the perfect weapon.

Theres not even a distant 2nd here. 2nd place is so far away that, well, there isn't a 2nd place. The RCP90 was leaps and bounds above any weapon ever.

Re: Your Best Friend In a Fire Fight
Older FPS games were somewhat before my understanding, and I really didn't pick up the reins until TF2, but i've screwed around and revisited a lot of older games, some of my favorites.
BFG 9000 (Doom), what more could you ask for with a portable WMD
Cow Launcher (South Park), ridiculous as it sounds, this was a hillarious weapon to use in multiplayer, even funnier to watch the victim run around until they die.
Flak Cannon (Unreal Tournament), the combination of the shredding shotgun blast and grenade lobs is a winner in my book
Sentinel Missile Launcher (007 Nightfire), always a big fan of remote control rockets, spent many a day just using this rocket and finding out how to steer it into every nook and cranny in the multiplayer maps.
M1 Garand (Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, and WW2 Simulation), who can go wrong with the iconic M1 Rifle, good accuracy and speedy reload make it one of the most reliable weapons ever concieved.
Lightsaber (Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast), need I say more?
Fat-Man (Fallout 3), portable nuclear warhead dispenser.
I think I may have overdone it, but if I have to pick just one, it's gonna be the M1 for it's reliability, with the Flak Cannon a close second.
Oh wait, forgot one
Bricks (Timesplitters), yes, bricks.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

I do like the Shovel from Day of Defeat. It has a kind of charm to it that no other melee weapon has.

Boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. With the gravity gun, of course.
