Arfy's random challenges

Fine, I'll change the question. I may have to change the amount of laps, I'll have to check tomorrow.
A dog is tied to a rope. The dog runs 40 laps around the yard completely stretching the rope on all of them, running a total distance of one mile. The dog is very tired and wants water after the running. the water is twenty feet away. Could he get water? You must also say how long the rope is.
Yes, if water is 20 ft away from the tie up point, which isn't mentioned...rope is 21 ft.
The length of the rope is off. Remember to say the exact number, don't round it.
no...it is closeeeee to 21 ft
5280/40=circumference=132
circumference=2*radius*pi
pi=22/7
132/2=66
66/22=3
3*7=21
I know that 22/7 isn't exactly pi, but it is clearly meant to be used in this problem....

Is the rope on a free spinning bushing or something? Otherwise the dog would be running in a spiral and you'd have to take into account the diameter of the post the rope is tied to.

Re: Arfy's random challenges
I'm gonna assume 2' wide rolls.
You'll have 20 rows, 40 feet long.
10 trips out and back.
I don't know what you mean by around since you'd want to lay the turf in rows instead of in a spiral.

What common English word will describe a person or thing as not being found in any place and yet with no changes other than a space between syllables, will correctly describe that person or thing as being actually present at this very moment?
A magician was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. A kid that was listening said, "that's nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no types of equipment or air pockets!" The magician told the kid if he could do that, he'd give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how?

I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.
