Need Help Aleric has Hurt Injured his back
Hi every Body
Some of you have seen my Dachshunds well Aleric the silver dapple has gotten him self hurt some how.
The vet said he has some form of separated Vertebra just behind the Shoulders. He is currently in Quite a bit of pain and taking low reduced 81 aspirin and 1/4 Motrin
(Note: The vet will not look in to his problem any further till I have some kind of payment available for him.)
I am Probably looking at a Vet bill of $500.00 Plus.
I am Unemployed me and Wife cannot afford that kind of expense especially not right now.
I really don't know wheat else to do other than to ask my friends if any of them can help us.
I am Kind of Distraught about it I do not what to loose him he has been one of my buddies Sorry I am just really sad guys.
If you can or want to help Aleric let me Know.

Gang I hate to see a fellow Villan in a bad way and I hope we can help Rigges out with his dogs vet bills.
I had intended to keep this confidential but perhaps it will help. I sent him $50, its not much but I hope it can help and if theres anything you can do as a Villan to help a fellow Villan in need I know it would be appreciated.

OK we been to the vet and are back.
Aleric has another Appointment next week Feb 9th.
OK here is what happened today
Went in to Vet Vet examined him and took 2 X-rays.
vet said there was 2 ways to treat 1 was surgery other was with meds and see how he does the Vet opted to treat rather than surgery
Alerice has 2 discs with problems I think it was the 7th lumbar and one up in his neck. the Lumbar one is the one causing his Pain and Muscle spasms.
He is hopeful that he will get some what better with Pain / anti-inflammatory med and a Muscle relaxant.
he got a Shot to relieve pain and Inflammation at the vets and is to start his med when he gets home I have given him his meds.
Vet said he would need to check Aleric a couple of times over the next few weeks Adjust his medications as needed and hopefully he will not need any surgery's.
Current cost for vet services is $139.50
Vet said he would probably have to take X-rays next week too.
Lastly the vet said if he did need Surgery It woudl have to be done at a K-9 specialty clinic for spinal disorders and the cost of surgery is around $5,000.00 per spot and he has 2 spots this is why he is hoping that Aleric will not need any surgery and can be treated this way.
Thank you all for you help I will keep this up dated on Alerics condition and Post all costs and vet fees.
I have to Build a ramp to the bed now no more steps for him and no more jumping up and down from any thing.

Hope everything works out for you Rigges and that the medication route will help Aleric.
One question, how much does Aleric weigh? I'm not trying to sound offensive or anything but more weight can add stress to joints and backs. It especially causes problems in the longer back breeds like the Dachshunds. Something as simple as cutting back a few pounds will help out a bunch for dogs with back problems. I hope you understand that I'm only asking with good intentions.
It's good that you are taking care of him by building a ramp. I'm sure he thanks you for doing whats best for him.
