Need Help Aleric has Hurt Injured his back

Umm his weight is about 18 LBs and he is right about in his correct weight range

Yea I know what you mean about weight on Doxies and I have seen a lot of fatty Doxies but both of mine are pretty fit and trim Aleric is very Muscular and we thought he would be fine for his back do to his extremely muscular body. but that is not true here its probably all those years battling Dragons has took it tole on my little Knight.

And believe me thank you for your concern I will watch his weight though as now that he is injured he may not stay as active as he had been and that would just add stress to his back problem if he gained any weight so it is well understood and taken with good meaning thanks rits.

He sounds good. I am glad you keep him healthy and fit. Wish I could help more, as I am recovering from a surgery for my chocolate lab. So far she is 4 months cancer free.

Hardest part of keeping an injured family pet immobile while they heal, is watching them be unhappy. They want to run around regardless of pain and that's tough for anyone to see but you just have to stay diligent.

Well Wishes help to. Guys so thank you as far as donations Please hold off any further till we have further evaluations of Aleric by the Vet.

as with the Regular Donations and the Anonymous Donations I think I have enough for now.

the total was only for the Open donations.

As far as his activity right now when he hurts he is really down and there were times I actually thought he was Dieing he got shocky several times real bad it has been scary at times.

the Current meds seem to be helping so We will have to see. I am going to try and make the bed ramp tomorrow IF I can I have to go get some Pin for the ramp Guess I will be using my new table saw my wife got me for Xmas ( still have the Wish she had not bought it feelings )

Well Aleric has had some Ups and some Downs its driving me crazy I do not think he is getting enough meds

I'm sure he's ok Rigges. He's not used to being injured and is probably trying to learn how to move with out to much pain.

OK well 2nd Vet Visit $175.00 it went OK

Vet did a though exam and changed his meds

he is now on 5mg valum 3 x a day for the next few weeks
a Steroidal anti Inflammatory in the evening
and a Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory in the morning

Aleric is still having some real bad pain moments as I do not think the meds were working right

Originally he was on a Non steroid Anti inflammatory 1x a day and a Muscle relaxant 2 x a day then changed to 3 timed a day

The vet thinks that some time in the next few weeks he should be some what better but will never be the same no more hunting no more jumping or running up or down stairs Have to put handicap ramps to master Bed and for front porch the back door al ready is with one.

Hello all
Well, Aleric is 14 years old now and is doing well has not had any major back problems since this incident.
He is a Bit Slower these days not chasing Raccoons or Possums Walks most of the time gets a little giddy and then runs around a bit sleeping a lot he has pretty much hung up his helmet and shield his days as a Knight are just fond memories.
He is still a Happy Puppy and is loved a lot.
Just wanted to thank you all for helping out with my buddy back when I really needed help you all came through for him.
and to the really Big Benefactor out there I truly thank you for your help!
As for his older brother Jaeger last Aug 1st, 2016 he had a major accident caused by 2 raccoons that scared him, he fell and he did not survive and has crossed over the rainbow bridge it was a sad moment.

OK well enough again thank you all figured it was a time to update on Aleric.
