Thanks for keeping this thread going. Even if I'm not playing video games anymore, I think I'm going to at least try and visit the forums more often ....
Boss Llama wrote:Since Spam has been away for some time, I took the liberty of updating the first post with:

Additional Ville Cup information (credit: Stevo, Coyote, Flash)
USV founding information (credit: kk, Chen)

There was stuff in this thread even I hadn't seen, and I fancy myself a bit of a wonk for such stuff. I'll try to dig through and find other tidbits to add from what folks have said, and will do my best to keep the thread updated with new info if it's posted.

Gonna see if I can get in touch with Black Hawk/Chef George to inquire about whether that NS cup ever got off the ground. ND appears to have been an official guild at that point (they had a forum here), so if they were running something by that name, it would be a real cup in my book. I also know there was a second cup in one of those years... 2007 or 2008... that I have the records for. It was won by Veggies of Vengeance, under v.o.c and was so that both an older game and a newer game could have cups.

There was a DoD 1.3 Cup in later 2008 - that was the one won by VoV. There should be forum posts about it somewhere, I remember signing up for it.

Aye - December 2008! I've got the info in the first post now, though not the one Spam quoted :-D

Still don't have much on the Natural Selection one, if that info is around!

Yours - the very first one (I'm a forum admin, so have access). I've only updated the timeline portions (Ville Cups, photo galleries, etc) rather than the textual explanations.

The link on the front page works for me Sully, if your referring to the 2002-2006 forums? Here is the link: http://www.theville.org/2002-2006/

JD! KRG! Five of my favorite letters! You know, when they are lined up in the same fashion as what I did earlier in this post. I mean, separately they don't do that much for me. Really, Q X and Z are probably my favorite letters when you consider them as stand alone phonetic representations. I'm also partial to W. Dunno why really. It just seems like you get more for bang for your buck, you know. It's really 2 U's when you think about it.

But I digress.

How are you fine fellows? I'm mad at myself because I let life drag me away from the good people here. And my fading game skills. Not that they were ever that great to begin with. Did I mention that I'm into ranking letters by personal affection now?

As a general statement, I hope that all of my dear friends are doing well, and knowing the quality of person that gravitates to this site, I am sure that there are many fine people that I have yet to meet.

Just browsing through. I expected to read things from JD, but to see very recent posts from Sully and Frag, wow (not to mention the ooorgle KRG). Good to know it sounds like things are good. Fifteen years is a long time ago, it is crazy to think about.
