Well technically all but one country in America
explain pleez.
America is one country....
Umm though I am a Citizen of The United States of America. America is not One Country
American also comprises of two continents North America above and South America Below with Numerous Countries making up the entirety of America. North America is made up of several Countries Canada, Green Land, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Salvador, Belize, Nicaragua and the United States. and all are Americans they are Just not the Country the United States of America.
So the United States of America is one country but Canada is One country Mexico is one country and so on and So forth But we are all Americans.

thanks for the lecture on geographic terminology riggs, i found it very enlightening.
I think that the "crapton" otherwise know as the poopscale system is the most versatile and useful of all types of measurement today. It can be used not only for actual wieghts and measures, such as, "that truck as a crapton of stuff in the back." But can also be use to describe in-tangible things like, "I feel like a crapton of brick has landed on my head!" you always know when its going to be hot when the weather man says, "yessir! There is going to be a crapton of sunshine today!" or if he says there is a crapton of rain coming this way, better get out the boat and paddles.. Simple yet effective!

Re: Great Measurements Debate
We paid Russia to give up its claim to Alaska and turn it over to us.
The British Empire may have claimed it, but it tended to claim lots of land.

thank you for enlightening me... but how would you use this for building the foundations of a 2 storey house?

I always thought it was weird that Alaska is part of the United States. Alaska belongs to us!!!. You stole it from us you thieves!!!!
for the sake everyone that might get aggravated, lets leave who did what in terms of politics. (to me this kinda argument IS a very small form of a political argument) keep teh debate measurement based.

If there's a basement, joists are laid horizontally to create the ground level floor. When building a multi-story structure, larger sizes of lumber, such as 4x4s or 4x8s, can be used to support the weight.
