In October 2007, the coolest of the cool, the baddest of the bad joined The Ville when spm97 found The Ville servers to play this interesting looking game that came in the box with Portal called "Team Fortress 2". Since spm97 joined The Ville, nothing has been the same. Up is Down. Down is Up. Cats and Dogs are sleeping together. It is just complete mayhem.

Wait a minute, you only arrived a month or two before me. I though you were old school? (just ripping on you bud) This excellent thread continues to impress. Don't forget to mention how TF2 and the DOD's have brought in so many good people over the years. Also note that the Ville continues to expand, improvise adapt and overcome, by adding servers for newer games, and keeping the existing ones "Troll free".

06/23/11 - Valve releases TF2 as "Free to Play" (No hats included)

Technically there was a hat included People who had bought the game got the "Proof of Purchase" to wear.

Also note that the Ville continues to expand, improvise adapt and overcome, by adding servers for newer games, and keeping the existing ones "Troll free".

And that's not an easy task, with all the 12-year-old Free to Players.

I believe in 2002 we had TVL which stood for "The Ville League" It was an eight team league with seven weeks and playoffs. I also quit <TVB> for a short time to play competitively in [njk]. I still have old screenshots somewhere.

Guys and Gals,
I'd like to get around to finishing this history thread. I'm going to work on it some more RSN, and would like input. Some of the input I'd like to look at adding is:

When all the Ville Cups were, and who won?
Same thing for all other competitions - when were they, and who won?
Should we include leadership changes in the guilds, or leave each guild to track that individually ?
Should we try and track the server changes ? The servers have changed a LOT of the years; that might be too much for this thread.
Should we mention things like the ville consul and when it was formed ?

Basically, the top post of this thread SHOULD be the only post people need to read, and they will get the full history of the ville, what they can expect from playing here, and who to talk to if they have more questions.

Thoughts ? Is this a thread I should let stay buried in time ?

Spam I will try to throw in what I can remember from when I can remember in the near future. I would suggest not tracking guild leadership changes, I would leave that for the guilds to track as well as guild members.

2005: No Cup Held
2006, May 15: The Black Label Society (DoD 1.3)
2007, Mar 04: Preacher's Crusaders (DoD:S)
2008, May 17: Boobs Boobs Boobs (TF2)
2009, Nov 14: Moobs (TF2)
2010, Feb 05 (2011): Shakespearicles (TF2)

Actually, I only led 2 guilds. Co-created <eVa> and did not actually lead <TVB> until I helped Frag/TYO resurrect it. I was a mere member of =USV= with you Giz, I was the Zen Garden Protector! If at some point, I led =USV=. . . .I don't recall it. lol Though I was pretty close with Roof, Blue and Hoax, I doubt I ever stepped into any sort of leadership role. . . .did I? No. .. pretty sure I didn't...lol

Proud of all of it, would not change a thing. It has been my complete privilege to spend time with such great people over the past decade and see the guilds grow to become what they are.
