Just a note to all the friendly villuns who have invited me to L4D2 games in the past and been thwarted because I didn't have the game: thank you, and I DO have it now! Just installed it on Saturday.

Noob status for a while. I don't know the maps, and I'm finding it hard to get used to the idea that you're not supposed to exhaustively kill every last thing that moves.

Don't play versus until you're competent with single player. When you do play versus, you may feel that you loathe it when really you need to get used to the mode. Versus is actually a lot of fun.

People like JD, Giz, T, and Beeron are really good teachers of the game. If you do a campaign with them, let them know you're new, and they're good at helping walk you through it, explaining where things are, strategies, etc. I'm far from a master of anything here, but they brought me from purchasing the game to tolerable teammate at it in just a few days.

THIS, unless they are on the other team.

T also has a thread talking about playing single player VS, so you can practice the special infected. That is helpful too because things like the hunter take a little time to get use to.
