Right now, I'm just picturing Gabe Newell, Robin Walker, and a bunch of the L4D2 team sitting around a monitor. The monitor has a single screen on it, with the words "To release Left 4 Dead 2, please press Enter."

Gabe lifts his finger slowly and hovers it just over the button, spinning it around and going "woooo!" Then he dramatically raises his hand and slams his finger down on to the Shift key, just below Enter. The office laughs. Robin pushes his way to the keyboard and methodically presses every key on the board but Enter. The office laughs. I think they're still doing this and will continue to for some time.

I think instead of hitting enter, they hit alt-f4 and closed the launch program and can't figure out how to restart it

This is most certainly exactly what's happening right now.

Sooner or later they'll be like "hahah ohhh dear -wipes away tear- okay but for real now guys".

Then the room goes silent as Gabe is about to press it, and someone in the back of the room snorts, and the whole office erupts with laughter once more.

Found this on the steam forums, it's supposily from the Official L4D2 group chat.

mikeblas: We've found a crashing bug at the last moment.
mikeblas: We think it's fixed, but aren't sure, and are testing.
mikeblas: We'll release the game when we're sure we have a fix.
