Something really fun and awesome to do.
1. Play as scout with sandman and slip behind enemy lines.
2.Locate a zoomed in, non-moving sniper.
3.Get out your sandman and get behind him.
4. Taunt.
If your lucky, this works and you kill him.

Or, arfy...you could sneak up on a scout as a heavy, and Pow taunt the scout that's taunting the sniper! Then you're really lucky!

It may not be a spy tip, but I don't know where else to post it.

Anybody have any tips on playing with the Dead Ringer? I just found it and have yet to find the best way to utilize it.

Wow. Impressive guide. A shame I'm still too new as a spy while the difficulty is set on "YOU DIE EVERY TIME YOU TRY!"

I think it's good to hear other opinions, but thanks for the guide, Yahoo!! As a terrible spy, the more I can hear and assimilate, the better.

Ditto. I'm a terrrrrible spy. I'll be honest, it's the source of a few rage quits. I'm pretty good at not getting angry, but I'm such a terrible spy. Lots of respect to good spies, thanks for the info.

After playing last night. I've realized that I can't do anything right. Even when reading this guide, watching cool videos.

Last night was an example. Failed at sapping two teleporters, then after a long delay, and paranoia, got killed cause I"M STUPID! Then tried to get the last cap, but nope. Failed at BS CAUSE I"M STUPID! I CAN"T DO ANYTHIGN RIGHT! I shouldn't be allowed to play and/or live. -x-

Another thing to keep in mind is the ville servers are very "spy aware" :P try practicing on public servers where you have a chance of playing less skilled players

In my experience, spy guides aren't really able to teach spy from the ground up (no offense Yahoo!). Around a month into my re-entry into the game, I tried playing spy on the Ville (with guides), and I was abominable (in contrast to non-Ville servers, where I did well). I stopped trying for a couple months, then decided to play spy as a lark. The months playing other classes made a huge difference - at that point, I had the skills to actually put the guide lessons to use.

In my opinion, general game experience is far more valuable for a early spy then direct practice as a spy. So much of the class depends on predicting enemy movements, dodging fire, and knowing the maps. It will greatly increase your sanity to learn these things as another class than to suffer as a poor spy. Another thing to consider is enemy spies. Whenever you get backstabbed, use your death timer to think about it from his perspective (rather than swearing at him). Alternatively, you could watch a good spy on spectator - this is more useful than the youtube videos because the hard part is usually the preparation for the backstab.
