How to practice rollouts [Regen Script]

Post by Flyte » Sat Feb 08, 2014 6:48 pm

Whether you're a competitive player looking to practice rollouts, or an aspiring jumper who has fun jumping, this script is for you.

Installation Instructions
1) Copy the script below to your clipboard.
- Windows: Ctrl+C
- Mac: Command+C
2) Open Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).
3) Paste the script into the Notepad or TextEdit file.
4) Save the file as regen.cfg, and as a text file. Save it into your "cfg" folder.
- Your cfg folder should be in: Program Files (x86)>Steam>SteamApps>common>Team Fortress 2>tf>cfg
5) Below are screenshots of the process for your convenience.

Execution Instructions
1) Load Team Fortress 2
2) Create a server and set it to the map you would like to jump on.
3) Open the Console (`)
4) Type in "exec regen".
5) You should notice a new sound - the sweet sound of resupply doors.
6) You are all set! Have fun jumping!

//Personal portable regen for offline jumping!
sv_cheats 1

wait 5;ent_fire !self addoutput "targetname player_me"
wait 5;ent_fire func_regenerate addoutput "classname func_regenerate_temp"
wait 5;ent_fire info_target addoutput "classname info_target_temp"

wait 10;give info_target
wait 10;give func_regenerate

wait 20;ent_fire info_target addoutput "targetname mytarget"
wait 20;ent_fire func_regenerate addoutput "StartDisabled 1"
wait 20;ent_fire func_regenerate addoutput "mins -100 -100 -100"
wait 20;ent_fire func_regenerate addoutput "maxs 100 100 100"
wait 30;ent_fire func_regenerate addoutput "solid 2"
wait 30;ent_fire func_regenerate addoutput "spawnflags 1"

wait 30;ent_fire info_target setparent player_me
wait 33;ent_fire func_regenerate setparent mytarget
wait 35;ent_fire func_regenerate enable

wait 40;echo "I love flyte so hard!"

Tips:
1) Bind the command "noclip" to a key on your keyboard so you can get around a map fast.
- You can do this by typing "bind key noclip"
- For example, I use the key "n" for my noclip, so I type in "bind n noclip"
2) Combine this script with the ones already in jump maps to get a "double protection".
3) If you need more help, contact me at http://steamcommunity.com/id/flytetf2

IMPORTANT: The script resets after you die, switch teams, or after the "Waiting for Players" period.

You shouldn't use a regen for rollout practice, since your health throughout is super important, not just time.

I bind a key to a round restart (blanking on the command right now) and another key to "hurtme -180", and set sv_cheats 1.
Your "hurtme" command should vary depending on what class since buffs are different based on maxhealth and what medigun your medic runs. Going slightly over lets it decay a bit so you exit the spawn with approximately full buff.

When the pre-round starts, you hit your "hurtme" bind, do the rollout and when you're finished note your time and health.
When you're done, you hit the round restart bind, then repeat with the hurtme command.

Plinko has a good point, though a regen script is fine for learning the mechanics of the jumps first, before you worry about health. It's the same logic behind how most jump maps give you infinite health, since it's just about the mechanics.
