Re: Best pyro guide ever
My typical solution to Pyro vs Pyro is to Airblast and run away and call for help. Most of the time the fight ends up in a near draw for me, and I really just think my "life" is better used trying to take out something I have a better chance against.
Just like when I play scout, I very rarely try to take out Sentry Guns, its just not practical.
Other Pyro's are probably the class I kill most as a Pyro. Airblast them up and then pelt them with buckshot. The Fire Axe is a viable option as well. You don't have to worry about afterburn, and if you know he's hurt, you can usually take him down with minimal HP loss yourself.

Re: Best pyro guide ever
The problem though...
I really love the flare gun... I may have to switch back to the shotgun, but I think that using the flare gun gives me at least some sense of long-range capability. The shotgun resolves me to close quarters combat only, and I think it makes me less versatile.
It could really go either way and both secondary weapons have their benefits. I am just so used to using the flare gun now.

So much of this is situational and all have their trade-off's which they should. As long as you are contributing to your team, I say use what you are most comfortable and have the most fun with. After all, having fun is the point
