Garry's Mod Mondays?

Post by Tarrock » Mon Jun 16, 2008 3:31 pm

Noticed that the Garry's Mod server really doesn't fill up that much, so I was thinking why don't we have a Garry's Mod Monday event.

It'd be an hour or 2 event on Mondays, where people come in and we just have different building compititions (no real prizes) and just have a fun old time.

Just an idea to fill up the servers.

I think if we fill it up it might crash. It starts to lag with 8 people on it and like 1 thing a person open. But i just go there to mess around

Most of the lag is client-side, so we could prevent that by playing on a partitioned map like gm_botmap. It is likely to crash with many people though, because there's more of a chance someone will do something that will crash it. Being a game that lets people do so much, it is very crash prone and you just have to be prepared for it. The server is relatively stable now after much tweaking, so we should be fine. :)

Perhaps a list of things not to do.

Top of the list: Giant Barnacles.

I say we each build our own contraption that launches a TF2 ragdoll. The only stipulation is the ragdoll must be totally unaltered. Nothing added or taken away, no thrusters or ropes or wires. You just drop him in and throw him as best you can. Whoever's rig throws it the farthest out of three tries is the winner :D
