Regarding Counter Strike

While I do have CSS in my steam account, it holds a similar position to TFC in the respect that it's something that's come in a bundle and I've never played (except I have played TFC by now).

With the advent of the new CSS server, it's made me re-examine my resolve to never play it because of the reputation that its players seem to have. The problem with this, and the whole 'being impartial' bit (which I do love) is that I don't think I've ever heard anything positive about Counter Strike, or its source rendition.

So, folks, this is your chance to sell me on why I should play it, or at least give it a shot.

EDIT: Important stuff bolded for... um... great justice?

This is The Ville.
We don't tolerate that kind of behaviour.

If it exists, we deal with it. Our CSS servers in the past have been beautifully admined and will continue to be!

Here is 1 good reason to play it - Killing Spam. A lot.

I've never played CS or CS:S, yet I do own them, and for kicks, will be trying out CS:S on the new server.

So think of it as free head shots on me...I'll be an EASY target. Like hitting the side of a barn easy....

Spam

Well, Buzzy, I am a super picky player when it comes to personal behavior, and I played a few hours today and noticed not a whisper of bad behavior (I had to reprimand a guy on Badlands on TF2, but that's another story).

In addition, I am actually a passable player at this one. I stink at both of the DOD games and mostly play them in the vain hope that I might get an occasional kill and provide some laughs for the opposing team. On CS:S I actually got more kills than deaths on some occasions!

My only concern is that one map will bore me pretty quickly.

Pubbing CSS is a nightmare. However, being a part of a community or clan that meets in a single server and has admins to keep the riffraff out can be just as fun as the most heated game of TF2.

It's big fun when it's well moderated and you know the people you're playing with. Being in my old CSS clan kept me coming back for more again and again for months.

I know, I know... but this is a prejudice that I've had LONG before I came here. Long before I had a Steam account even. That, and the amount of negativity I've heard about CS is why I don't play it. I believe that it will be just as well moderated as the rest of the servers, but this is more of a chance for people to be all "WOO! CSS! PLAY! THIS IS WHY! =D"

Plus, I could go with seeing some happy, energetic folks right now... >_>

However, I will be in the same position. I say we pit ourselves 1v1 and see who manages to not kill themselves first. XD

I played some CSS today too for the first time, and I can honestly say this:

I had fun without continually mowing people down.

The fact that actual strategy is required makes it interesting, along with the fact that I played alongside some interesting and non-children people.

Dog, can this be made a rotation server? Or at least add office to the rotation? I have to agree, dust does get boring really fast.

CS:S can be fun. It's all on how you look at it. With the great community of people we have here, there's almost no reason to NOT buy it :hb:

I've never played it but I bought and DLed it last night. Still haven't played it though. You'll have your chance to slaughter The Nanite tonight if you're around.

As many of you know, I'm a CS hater. Will I be playing on the Ville CS:S server? Absolutely!

My friends will be playing there...

...and CS:S is good llama bait.

Cool things about CSS:

- Lots of weapons/equipment to choose from

- Team oriented

- The bots are good practice, they're smarter than I am!

- Meet new people! We're already getting new CSS players in

- Did I mention weapons?

I was on the server last night with a few of the villuns, it was fun. Like others, I never really have played CS:S and am still learning different things. I do like that map Office though, but if you stray to other servers where they take it more seriously, prepared to be called some pretty harsh things if you are new.

Is 14 players the highest the server can hold? Doesn't seem like a lot, especially if you get 14 supporters on there.
