Surf Maps!

Post by Shishkababy » Wed Mar 07, 2007 9:50 pm

We need surf maps on tv4, my friends and I always play on this surf map place but I'd rather play on the ville, so we need surf maps.

I have heard of surf maps, but have never played one. I will have to look into it and download a few to see how they are. We might be able to get them on there.

I've been an admin on a CS:S surf server for a year now. Most of the time servers are either surf servers or not, due to a setting has to be changed (alothough it doesnt change normal cs gameplay) and the types of people who play surf maps dont want to play normal maps and vise versa. It's also a lot of work admining a surf server, it attracts the worst of the cs kiddies.

Surfing skill has more depth then it seems. For instance, I was the second person to beat the hardest surf map made and it was a month after its release. They're kind of like CS's conc maps. If you're going to try it, join a surf server rather then starting your own because a setting needs to be changed if you start the map yourself. The controls are simply strafe against the ramp and dont touch any other movement keys ( forward, jump, etc) or else you fall off.

If they attract the worst of the worst, then that will make me think twice becuase we already attract some fantastic rascists and 10 year olds that just learned cuss words and think they make up a complete sentence when packed together and are in all caps.

:P

lol omg
I remember concing the night away...

I know how this scene works. People who want to surf (or conc) dont want to play normal style games. And people wanting normal gameplay dont want to surf. Thats why there was always conc-map only servers (and surf servers - Im guessing)

So ya, Id have to agree w/Blown... doesnt fit in to our scheme.

Sounds like fun tho, Id like to try it. Start a surf map server on your machine and Ill join if you send me your IP =)
