Error when map changes - CUtLinkedList overflow ...

Post by pravda » Sat Sep 19, 2015 6:16 am

Hi,

Seems others are also getting a CUtLinkedList overflow! (exhausted index range) error when the map changes ... solves itself when the map changes again?

Not sure if related but in the middle of the screen also get "You got an error check your console" - console says the following:

badness: tell matt that the weapon "tried to draw with a null model (0,0,not alt)"

Valve in all their wisdom performed an update to DoD:S, and since then every server, at least in the States has had issues with working correctly.
Whether or not they will fix it is any ones guess.

ok - thanks for the update ...

- Was able to get rid of the message in the middle of the screen "You got an error check your console" by going to Options - Multiplayer - Advanced and unticking AutoHelp option.

It appears to be only some maps. Flash works for sure.

Hi Dog,

I added cl_new_impact_effects "0" to the \common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\cfg\autoexec.cfg awhile ago but it hasn't fixed it for me.

Unless I did it incorrectly? I also type it in console sometimes before connecting to the server without any luck. I can't work out any pattern to it at all.

A couple of times I have connected before and no bots were even loaded but the map did load ok. As soon as I chose Allies and was about to spawn , the cutllinkedlist overflow error occurred.

Sometimes it can load 3 maps in a row before the error but usually it is after one map.

Anyone who is in spectator mode when a round finishes and the next map loads and the cutllinkedlist overflow error occurs, whoever was in spectator mode is not disconnected from the server so they remain connected and no new players can connect until those who were in spectator mode disconnect from the server.

It just means you have to wait till the spectator players have disconnected before trying yourself to connect.

-----

One site was talking about particle emitters not being released from memory causing the error?

"Once a particle emitter overflows, for some reason all entities will no longer render except for the map and you need to reload the map in order to fix it.

There is console spam with : CUtlLinkedList overflow! (exhausted index range) (65535) "

Stevo has the server back up.
I'm going to turn off the rain and snow as that might be an issue. I notice it worked fine last night when it was calm.

Unfortunately went through another cycle of error messages and reconnecting till it works as usual. So I guess maybe it is not the rain or snow as it is the same frequency of overflow errors as before once they started happening. I am not entirely convinced if it is the custom maps as I was getting the error connecting to flash then it randomly reloaded flash again as soon as I disconnected and on the next connect its ok. But then it could be as the map rotation is totally wack.

Lucky it changes to a random map a couple of times till it works when the server goes empty by everyone closing the error message as the client stays connected for a few minutes. If you do not then it eventually disconnects on its own in like 5-10 minutes. So its not spectating they just haven't closed the prompt or still connecting. Worse if its new player they download sever files before they hit the error message an close it hopefully.

Interesting thing before this bug the only way that I could change maps by simply being the only player and disconnecting\reconnecting was on kalt. So as long as I started on kalt I could disconnect and reconnect my way to about 2 other random maps before goning back to kalt or until someone else joined. It practically was my way around kalt as I hate that map. Now I just play it or else stuggle with the overflow error till it works again and ironically it may load kalt again in revenge.

I just added the update to turn off precipitation.
Keeping an eye on the numbers of entities in the game.
Seems to be small (33/2048)

I'm not sure what VALVe are playing at.
But I'm sorry you guys have had to put up with this for six months.

Hmmmm a lot of research says that trails may be the issue.
I may disable some of the trails for Allies (with the exception of rockets)

My hats off to you guys with your organization and skills!
