Error to join some maps of the server

Post by chusky304 » Mon Jun 08, 2020 5:15 am

Hi, I love your server with the zombies, but i can't join in some maps (the most of them). The error is this:

"cutllinkedlist overflow (exhausted index range)"

I don't know how can i do to repair this problem.
Thanks for all.

Chusky.

Howdy chusky! Sorry to hear you're having troubles. The particular error you're getting is one that has been haunting first-generation Source games for nearly a decade, including DoD:S and our version Left4DoD. No single solution seems to be reliable. It appears it may be related to the number of entities on maps and to memory usage in games.

One possibility that has helped some people has been to use the command "cl_new_impact_effects 0" in console. This will disable some things like bullet holes, which each count as an entity.

Dog (the original mod author) long ago disabled trails for most things on the servers - I'm not sure if that holds true today (Stevo, any idea?), but trails appear to cause big issues as well. I'm not sure if there is a client-side option for turning those off.

Just for reference, what kind of hardware and how much RAM are you running with? It's been a little while since I know we've seen this error on our servers, but it is definitely not the first time.
