MeleeMania Rules
  • The first rule of MeleeMania: nobody talks about MeleeMania MeleeMania is a FUN event. It's a chance to laugh and have a good time with friends. Don't take it too seriously!
Behavior/Etiquette
  • Violating these rules may result in ejection from the MeleeMania event. No refunds will be issued.
  • All regular Ville rules apply (no swearing and so on) during the event. You must be a Villun in good standing to be elible to participate.
  • Spectators may not interfere with the matches in any way. This includes entering the ring area during a match.
  • Audio cues are used to signal the start of each round, so please do not use voice communications until a round has begun.
  • Fighting at ringside is discouraged. It is distracting to the competitors and those who are watching or recording the matches.
  • Players should play using the name they signed up with. Otherwise, we may not even know you're there!
Match Rules
  • Tournament matches are best 3 out of 5 fights. The championship match is best 4 out of 7.
  • The last match of the tournament is for the championship, and the right to wear the Big Gold Belt until the next MeleeMania!
  • When the next match is announced, the first player named should play on Red Team and the second player should play on Blue. (For example, if a match is announced as "Player 1 versus Player 2", Player 1 should switch to Red and Player 2 should switch to Blue.)
  • Both competitors will start each round with full health. If a competitor wins a round but takes damage, they may leave the ring between rounds to collect health packs.
  • Matches take place in the melee ring. Competitors may not leave the ring during a fight! Doing so will result in losing the fight, but not the match.
  • An audio cue will signal the start of each round. No cheap shots before that!
  • Players will have opportunities to win "Mulligans" during the tournament. A Mulligan is used to cancel out a round that the player has lost. It's essentially an "extra life". Mulligans cannot be transferred, and they cannot be carried over into a future MeleeMania.
Guaranteed Slots
  • The top 4 finishers in each tournament receive a guaranteed slot in the next MeleeMania.
  • Guaranteed slots are not transferable!
  • For the remaining slots, players who did not get to play the previous month will get preference.
Dropouts
  • If you are unable to attend MeleeMania, please contact the organizers as soon as possible so another player can have a chance to participate.
  • Alternates will be chosen from people who signed up, and will get first chance to fill any slots that come open.
  • Alternates must be present at the start of the event to be eligible.
  • Players must be present for their scheduled matches. If they are not present for the first round, an alternate will fill their slot. If they are not present for later matches, their slot will be left blank and the opposing player will advance to the next round in a bye.
  • If a first round slot is open and no alternates are available, a willing spectator or MeleeMania organizer may be chosen to fill the slot.
Championship Perks
  • The current Champion gets to display the BIG GOLD BELT in their forum signature.
  • We will work with the current Champion when scheduling MeleeMania to make sure they can attend.
  • In professional wrestling there are "run ins", where an outsider interferes in a match. The defending Champion may perform ONE run in during the tournament, for whatever reason they see fit. (For example, to tip a close match against a rival.)
  • If the defending Champion is eliminated from the tournament before using their run-in, they forfeit the run-in.
  • The run-in attacker can use any methods available to them. For example, they may use a class other than the one being used for the tournament. If the attacker is a server admin, they may use admin commands.
Theme Songs
  • Theme songs should be mailed to Thom Yorke Obliterator in MP3 format. His e-mail address can be found in the Game Server Admins menu at left.
  • Songs should be sent at least one week before the event. If you send it later than that, we will make every effort to get it in but cannot guarantee it.
  • Short, recognizable bits work best. Plan on only getting 10-15 seconds played. If you want to use a certain part of a song, provide a time marker. (For example: "I want to use the really cool guitar bit at 0:40 seconds into the song.")
  • If you don't provide a theme song, one will be provided for you. Some of these are cool, some are very silly!
  • If you had a theme provided for in a previous month and want to keep it, let the organizers know and we will reserve it for you.
Random Fun Bits
  • There will be intermissions during the event. Attendees are allowed to fight during the intermissions.
  • After the tournament there will be a random melee free for all.
