L4D2 Event

50% Versus Event (500,000 pts)

This will involve a pretty basic VS event between the two teams. Each team picks their four players and the match will be set for an evening that is scheduled by the master schedule. The map will be announced shortly.

In the occurrence of a player dropping in-game, a player can be substituted and both teams must agree. If this were to happen, I would like the team captain to inform me during the game if there are any problems.

Scoring will be handled as follows:
If a team finishes every chapter and wins the map, they get 100% of the points and the loser gets nothing.
If the winning team does not finish every chapter and the losing team finishes one or more chapters then the losing team will get 5% per chapter of the total points and the winner gets the remainder. Therefore, on a 5 chapter map, if the loser finishes all 5 but loses based on scoring, it will be a 25% loser/75% winner score sheet. Both teams will be required to confirm the results.

50% Survival Event (500,000 pts)

This event will be given a window of opportunity. The two teams will be given a three hour time frame to make as many attempts as possible for their best times. The map will not be announced until 20 minutes before the time frame. Team captains will have to force their members to wear their team tag and they will need to be on the judge's friend list so the event can be monitored.

The 4 best times will be averaged based on screen shots given to the judge from the team captains. The captains will have 30 minutes at the end of the event to submit their screenshots to the thread managing the events. The captains will be required to notify the judge that they have completed this before the 30 minute timeframe is up (Of course, the judge will be nagging at the end of the timeframe for the required information as well.)

It's the average of the best 4 survival times for the team, regardless of who is playing. A team can switch people around, or have multiple groups working on the challenge at once. There must be 4 members though. No less. Screen shots should be linked to the submitter's steam account so there is accurate timing/dating and proof of this.

Scoring will be handled as follows:
Winner with the best average receives the majority of the points. The losing team can earn points if their time is close to the winner’s time. If the loser’s average trails the winners average by:

• 5 sec or less Winner 75% Loser 25%
  5.1-10 sec Winner 85% Loser 15%
  10.1-20 seconds Winner 95% Loser 5%
  > 20 Winner 100% Loser 0%

In case anyone is wondering, all signed up players are eligible to play in any event. What you sign up for is as a guideline for the team captains to use in the upcoming draft to ensure they plan to field full teams for every event.
The team captains will determine who participates in each event, if more players wish to participate than available slots, you will not be limited to what you sign up for now. If, for some reason, a team ends up short of players due to unexpected absences, we will do our best to provide impartial admin sub players as needed.

The only exception to this rule is for Minecraft and TF2 events, where members of those events' planning teams will not be able to participate in those specific events, though they will be able to sign up and play on a team and participate in as many other events as they'd like.

We'll brief the Captains in more detail during the drafting process.

Keyes and Coyote have undertaken the challenging but rewarding role of herding cats (goats?) in this year's games, and will be responsible for overseeing such critical components of the Villympic experience as witty banter, awesome team names, and good-natured rivalry. Also, drafting, organizing, training, coordinating, and leading elite hit-squads of gaming-ninjas in an all out fight to the death for millions of points, but that's just details.
