I herd there's a team w/o a reserve player.

Sign me up.

Re: The Warpath Cup - Moar Classes!

Post by KRG » Sat Mar 05, 2011 5:32 pm

These captains . . . . .

Always on and on with, "we want this to be fun" and "wouldn't it be great if everyone could play" and "love is a battlefield" and "I just donated blood" and "I just saved 5 kids and a Shitzu from a burning building, can we add moar class slots?"

So. . .due to overwhelming signups and the awesome support of your fine captains, your teams have been upped to 12vs12.

Added are 3 extra class slots: Soldier/Scout/Sniper

This should help ensure that everyone who signed up gets an equal chance to play and have some fun!

Special thanks to these awesome Cup captains for being on the ball and really helping make this an awesome event. You guys rock!

Ok, no offense, but who the heck thought that 2 snipers would be a good idea.
That was one of the biggest things I was looking forward to in this tournament.

I agree, that will just force teams to be more defensive. IMO, a second Medic (or 11v11 matches) would have been better.

2 medics makes sense, but i'm happy as long as a second slot isn't given to engineer, demo, or heavy

Amen to no second Engineer, Demo, or Heavy
2Heavies would end up being too much of the game's focus.
2Demos would spam those chokepoints far too much.
2Engineers have much the same issue as 2 snipers, putting too much of a defensive emphasis. Though I'd be ok with 2 engi's if the second was forsed to Gunslinger, but that's a pain to keep track of.

Most warpath games I play have 2 snipers, it's not the most useful thing, but you can make it work.

Scout is good with 2, now because the other team also HAS to have two, you'll be surprised at how much more useful they are with only one opposing engie and heavy.

I am glad that there are now more slots for players, turnout looked great and it's good to see that the cup captains and organizers got together to allow more people to play! I don't care what classes have been added, just so everybody can play! One medic, one engie is a great idea, there will be stalemates and defences no matter what classes are chosen. The teamwork is what is going to make this event a blast. There is always a way to win, always a counter to every class, and always a good time on warpath!

Thanks to the captains and organizers who are taking time to get this cup rollin!

If the captains are playing in every game, might I suggest a side contest during this event, the captains always duel during the matches with an award going to the captain with the most duel wins? You know, just for some trashtalking/bragging rights! I'd be happy to provide the dueling games...

Well, if it gets un-fun anyone who has a problem can always leave and make their captain sub someone else in.

Here's to a fun Warpath cup.

Small suggestion to follow-up the 2 medic suggestion.

I've played highlander + 1 Krtiz medic before where you have 1 kritz medic and 1 uber medic and it was a ton of fun, if the 2 sniper thing is unpopular why not try that.

I just learned that Zookie got picked as an alternate for Phat Bastards (team 2). I look forward to unplugging her ethernet cable at random intervals during the match. Go FU!

heheheh

Also, props to allowing the 12 member teams!

Uh, KRG, I just noticed something: Daylight Savings Time kicks in at 2 AM on Sunday, March 13. Will this affect the times of second and third rounds?

Nope, most will thankfully lose that extra hour in their sleep. :)

Good point to bring up though, may have a few affected by it but not enough to change the schedule. I will make the captains aware.
