Kill TheCarpe Month 2011
Iiiit's February! And you know what that means! Time for me to break out the aspirin and become paranoid of every moment of every day, because the time has come once again to volunteer myself for grievous bodily harm for fun and prizes! Tungsten and Cool Guy have previously made me into their own personal pinata's, and now it's YOUR TURN!
The game of TF2 has changed greatly since last year, and so too does this event. Gone are the days of sneaky hidden point values or complicated number crunching. Every kill with a melee weapon, from the lowly dime-a-dozen backstab to the elusive Axtinguisher when not on fire, is worth a single point.
Here's the kicker, though! This year I'm introducing combo bonuses! These are the way you get the big points, and though the concept is simple, it will be quite difficult to pull off in a heated game. The more times you kill me in a row with the same weapon, the higher the value of the kill gets. It goes something like this:
Player X kills me with Equalizer, gets one point.
Player X kills me with Equalizer again, gets two points for a total of 3.
Player X kills me with Equalizer a third time, gets three points for a total of six.
Player X kills me with Rocket Launcher, his combo has been broken and will revert back to one on his next melee kill.
Even a different melee weapon will cancel your combo, so if you want the major points, you'll have to be focused. You can see how even a relatively short combo can net impressive point values! That's all there is to know, now get out there and put a few dents in my already quite tender skull! I'll be putting in time on all the servers when I can.
Rules and general information:
* As long as the HLStats are recording (meaning six or more people on the server), your kills will be tallied.
* There are no points for assists. Either you get the kill, or you don’t.
* Kills during the February MeleeMania or any other special event will not count.
* Melee kills are eligible in Team Fortress 2 only.
* What class I am playing makes no difference, nor will my killing you with any weapon affect your score or combo.
* Combo bonuses only extend to the end of the current round. When the round ends for whatever reason, all players combo values are rolled back to one.
* Only players with forum accounts are eligible.
