A lot of things are more than likely going to be changing if/when we redo it, so prepare for things to be different. Still good and still fun, of course! Just...different than what you've experienced before.

Hm, I thought Kari tried making the monorail but it was too buggy so it never made it in.Fox_Blaze wrote:*Video*Bronze Fox wrote:Monorail. I'm calling it now. Monorail.

Oh, the monorail made it in. You just missed that one.
Meanwhile... I'd back this
Shortest Meleemania ever: Half-Zatoichi night. Even with the Basher it might take you a few seconds to bleed to death. Katanas? Not so much.
Meanwhile... I'd back this
though the rake and Vita-Saw don't have the potential for massive self-damage like the other weapons do.Boston Basher, Ulapool Caber, Equalizer, GRU, Southern Hospitality, Tribalman's Shiv, Garden Rake, Vita-Saw and Big Earner

Unfortunately, the pyro and medic don't get anything nearly so exciting, but the rake does more damage to the other guy and the vita-saw makes you cough up some health at least. . .

I think the disciplinary action would make a great melee mania. The crit on it isn't powerful enough to one-shot a soldier, so we won't instakill rounds.

We already did the Shiv; one that used the Shahanshah would be much more exciting.

I'm not sure how well an Ullapool Caber Meleemania will work. A direct hit with it does around 185 damage, enough to kill another Demoman. Plus, what happens if an explosion results in the death of both combatants?

I really would like to see an event using the Heavy's Laughing Mittens, but it will be a while before there are enough of them for everyone to use.

In the past we have just traded them around between fights when items were not as plentiful.

How about both combatants are eliminated, and their would-be opponent in the next round gets a bye?Flaming Cheese Wheel wrote:Whoever struck first gets the point?Super Steveio wrote:Plus, what happens if an explosion results in the death of both combatants?

I imagine the Opening Grand Melee for a putative Caber match will be... lively. Have we even tested Caber friendly-fire effects?

Screwed around with it during pre-game shenanigans. The caber won't detonate on friendly targets (I don't think) but will still catch them in the blast should something trigger it (smacking the floor).Flaming Cheese Wheel wrote:I imagine the Opening Grand Melee for a putative Caber match will be... lively. This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

The Shahansha doesn't do anything except no-crit, unless the combatants are allowed to use jarate, then it just crits, it won't fit the theme.Bronze Fox wrote:We already did the Shiv; one that used the Shahanshah would be much more exciting.
The Ulapool Caber would probably involve other loadouts, I believe the wielder gets first credit for the kill if the explosion kills both.

That... could be just as funny. Melee starts, 16 people fly into the air, a rain of giblets hits the ground.

We're actually probably going to do an entire season of fighting with the Conscientious Objector. That's fun and different, right?
