Re: DMC Fight Card 03/05
So, we won't always fight each week in the weight classes we signed up in?

I'll try to be on time. The not-so-organized folks behind the training I'm being sent to changed the schedule, so instead of finishing 3.5 hours in advance, we'll now be finishing half an hour in advance. It's only about half a mile from the conference center to the hotel, but it'll be the final day, so people might be milling about, it might drag on, etc. Anyway, I'll be there as soon as I can.
@ MasterChef - You may have beaten me last season, possibly multiple times, but this season, vengeance shall be mine!
@ Buzzy - We meet again! I look forward to our duel.

It's there iOwn. . somewhere. . .
7:30 CST On Friday
TTHREAZ, we will take it easy this first time out so everyone gets a handle on how things work. So not everyone gets to fight in each weight class. With the two sided arena though, I anticipate being able to have twice as many fights happen in the future.

No. No watches of any kind are permitted, for any reason or duration. Can spies use deadringer if they limit cloak?
Demo update hadn't been done when this happened last season, I'll be interested to hear the answer on this one. There are no health or ammo packs available, only the resupply locker, so if you want to heal or resupply between rounds, you won't have much choice I suppose. With Sword n Board demo, do you have to reset head count each round?
I don't recall this being an issue last time - nobody survived long enough to get four melee hits in. They either got the kill with fewer hits, or got mowed down on approach (usually the latter). I don't see why not, however... judges? You use the ubersaw, can you keep ubercharge between lives and uber yourself?

i still feel like the no deadringer watch is a bit rediculous. It has garbage cloak length and is deafeningly loud when decloaking, so why not? the knife is going to be absolutely useless, whereas the jarate+kukri combo could be decent. so you are pretty much limiting the spy to ONLY his gun, and ruining the entire spy's way of offense. I understand not C&D or Invisiwatch because those will just drag the fight on, but the deadringer can actually make the spy more of an attack class and have a decent chance at surviving the Spamsman.

Now, remembering that I LOVE playing spy, I have to say that the spy is pretty pointless to play in this event. Unless you're a fantastic sniper with the ambassador, or land some random crits (don't get me started), your options are either to die quickly, or run around and die slowly.
The problem I have, personally, with the DR, is it makes you survive legit kills, which in a one on one, no-health/ammo game, is just plain obnoxious - it draws things out. That and, as Giz said, it's unenforcable. Without a cvar that controls it, it would be left up to lag and judgement calls. Honestly though, in a one-on-one, what point would the DR have? You're either using it to move invisibly, which is why the others are prohibited, or you're using it to prolong the fight, which is what you yourself just said the others are legitimately prohibited for. ::shrug:: If one watch is banned, they all should be. They serve the same purpose.

Agree with this.

Ubersaw/Sword
As far as the melee questions, this is not MeleeMania, that stuff will largely just get you killed here. lol No ruling needed for the sword/shield, use it all you want. After one fight, you'll stop using it, I guarantee it. lol
Spy
Spy vs Spy or Engineer vs Spy are good matches. If you get with your opponent early on, you can agree to play certain classes like that, it's up to you.
No watches of any kind. While we can all agree the spy is terribly limited here against a sniper, cloaking and/or DR abilities have no place in this event.
