Thanks for posting that, Flash. I've been hunting around for a couple days hoping to locate the announcement. He touched a lot of people!

Several memorials for Stevo were created on the servers:

So many friends lost here at the Ville. Blue, Trig, JCOM, and Stevo. While I played with all of them, Stevo I knew the best. I remember when he was the annoying kid to most the admins and on the edge of being banned. I was an Admin at the time, and while he could get to me, I still stood up for him. I remember when his name came up for being an admin, some did not want him for his past her, but myself and a few others campaigned for him. I became largely inactive here after NS and TF2 died out, but I was thrilled to here when he took over and kept this place running, knowing that my faith in him was never misplaced. I got to watch him go from that annoying brat to one of the most important people here. It was an honor to know him and be his friend. He will be missed

Sad to come back and see the loss. He was one of the first I remember playing with.

Yesterday was 1 year since Steve passed. I really meant to make a post in here when it first went up but I was finding it very hard to put things into words and it really isn't a whole lot easier now. The arc of stevo's presence at the ville is really quite amazing. From joining as a maybe 12 year old kid that had way too much fun and would mic spam like crazy, to forming TVR and eventually becoming an admin. His knowledge and dedication to this place made him so invaluable and it lead to him eventually taking over. I'll always be thankful for the hours he put into keeping the ville afloat but also thankful for being able to call him a friend. For the endless hours of gameplay and the random steam chats and eventually being able to watch him stream on his own twitch channel. Right around when Steve turned 21 was when I found out that he had Muscular Dystrophy and it really concerned me because 21 is just about the life expectancy for some forms of MD, but he assured me he had Becker MD which meant he could have made it to his 40's. Sadly the complications he experienced a year ago cut that short. I stopped by his twitch stream the day before he died but I didn't even say hi that night and I wish I would have. I had planned on writing so much more but all I can really say is that I miss him.

I was just reflecting on him a few hours ago myself.

Coming from a place of no knowledge about most more complicated back-end server type things to trying to cover even a fraction of the work he did and understand the intricacies of simply keeping up with a couple of servers through updates and events, I'm continuously blown away by how much he did for us here. He was an absolute presence in all we did, and in so many ways continues to be a guiding hand for The Ville. I am extremely thankful we have Flash to handle the heavy lifting now, but I think all of us owe Stevo a debt that is impossible to put into words for the work and commitment he put into this place.

I was thinking about our loss of Stevo a few days ago as I was reviewing the Ville history. It hardly seems like its been a year since we lost him, and its very difficult to summarize in a few short words how important Stevo has been to the Ville. We miss you Stevo, the Ville is not the same with you gone.

A lot of thoughts and words go through my head when I reflect on our good friend, and honestly, our brother, Stevo. He was such a kind and giving person. We would such stupid stuff on DoD, have great chats at times. He was family. To all of us who knew him. The world was a little dimmer, but the sky was a little brighter when he left us last year, but it still doesn't feel real. We've all cried some, laughed some, and cherished the memories of our Stevo. Even now, I have hard time typing this. He was a good man, and a good human. We will always miss you Stevo, and can only hope to carry on the legacy you left for us. Cheers mate.

I joined TheVille a couple months after his passing, so I never got to meet him, but there is still a small shack on the beach that belonged to him that we treat as a protected landmark. I've even shared his story with newer players that joined after me. So I guess he has a legacy in that regard.

Hard to believe it has been so long, I still think about him every time I visit the site or play on one of our servers.
