All good things must come to an end

We have been running DoD1.3 at TheVille.Org for quite some time.
It brought many great people into our community and for a while it was what TF2 is to us today.

Due to negligible numbers we have decided to shut down the server and retire the game to Shady Acres Old Peoples' Home where it will sit with other old games such as TFC and Doom and play cribbage, while complaining about the food, the weather and bowel movements.
:D

We can bring the game up at any time should any of the Guilds wish to organize a DoD1.3 fun night. Just let us know!

Farewell, DoD1.3 :(
Though I did not play you when it was the game to play, I did hop on there some times and have a blast with sarge!

Did it leave a will, because one time Dod1.3 told me that it would leave me the greasegun when it died... i'll take anyone to court over this untill we can find a will.

RIP DoD 1.3! You will be sorta missed... I only went on there about 5 times myself. You could just never fill that sucker.

Sad day is sad, but alas, we will embrace our new games to give us comfort in it's absence. DOD 1.3 was my first introduction to the world of mulitplayers. I am glad for the friends it brought and the times that were had. *Sniff* so long!

I played DoD the first day it was publicly released back in 2000 or so in the 0.x betas and kept up for a long, long time. I remember the original caen and omaha maps pretty well and hopping into the 1.3 server still shocks me with how many big changes the game went through. Back in my LAN party days it rivalled CS and BF1942 for games you could get everyone to play for the entire weekend.

I never played much 1.3 at the Ville, by the time I got here it was well into TF2 time, but I have a soft spot for her anyway!

It is sad to see dod fade away, it was a very entertaining game and i am glad i was able to enjoy it from the release. Here's hoping it can be brought up for a fun retro game every so often.

Yeah, like when the tanks were boxes with sticks coming out. Those were the days.

It's sad to see it go, but an understandable decision.

I think the very first betas for DoD were almost exactly ten years ago. I left Tribes and CS to play DoD almost exclusively. Deployed BAR in a window crack, ahh the memories.

Rest well DoD 1.3, you led a long productive life, and I will still play you when I can find a server that isn't 100% Bots...

And Dog, what is with the Old Person crack..? I love cribbage, I just downloaded Doom for my Ipod touch, and I have found a thriving TFC community to join.... as for the bowel movements... that's none of yer business!
